Hi Jared,

I'm just watching the freedrumlessons.com DVD 1 that came with my order and whilst reading along with the sheet music i think i've spotted an error, either that or i've got the wrong understanding somehow...

In the "how to count rests" lesson you explain example 3 and play the beat on your hi-hats but i think you're playing this wrong.... i think you're playing the bar with a rest on the "a" of 1,2 and 3. that's not the way it's written in the sheet music!

I guess you could either change the sheet music on the website or re-shoot the video or just put a note on the lesson, just to avoid confusing anyone else!

I have picked up every thing you've said in all your lessons with ease so far and im pretty sure that this is a mistake or maybe it's deliberate to see if the people watching are paying attention!?? if so do i win a prize for spotting it? he he

Just thought i'd let you know! p.s. all the other lessons are great!! smile.gif

Dave.

Dave,

Thanks for the info. We'll take a look at this on Monday to see what the case may be.

On the video, the conductor is "in 2." As is often the case with 6/8 time, it is counted and conducted "in 2" and performed as two sets of eighth note triplets per measure. The tempo is fairly quick, so I recommend you watch the conductor and count 1-2, 2-2, 3-2, etc. in time with his baton.
