Hello,

I am new to FDL and already have learned a lot from watching the video lessons as well as reading the lessons. In watching the video lessons on quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes however, when you say the speed setting to set the metronome at, it sounds like you are saying 80 beats. But it also sounds like you could be saying 88 beats. I can't tell. I am over 40 and maybe my hearing is going. So is it 80 or 88...this is the question.

Thanks,
Gary

The exact tempo is not important. If you play along to the video, play with the metronome sound Jared uses. If you are playing on your own, set your metronome to whatever tempo you like that's comfortable. Once you have it down, speed it up and slow it down in small amounts. You want to be able to play accurately at a wide variety of tempos.

The better way to think a triplet is to visualise a measure where the counting figure is the 8th note. All irregular values like triplets or sextuplets are taken from there as when you are in a compound measure and you have four 8th notes and they are marked as irregular. This kind of irregular values are nothing else than an exchange.
