Mike is such a great teacher. I have a couple of his DVDs and love them. That damn basic jazz pattern, I don't think I will ever perfect it.

Yah, I always say...it's a race between Mike as a drummer and Mike as a teacher. It's rare to find someone so good at both.

Jared..Hi..

I have to say the Jazz Drumming System is great..Mike does an excellent job of teaching and it is very easy to follow..

Question..
Is it "easier" to learn to Jazz/ bluesy rock than Metal ? I played when I was younger and it seems the jazz beats comes back alot quicker. I stuggle with some of the "metal" thats more current than say
the 80's or 90's..What could be the reason for this? And does that mean I should just work harder on the "metal"? Or get Really good & comfy with the earlier music? Thanks for your time.

Yea, I enjoy it..but it can be frustrating. I don't know if it's from all the marching band / Heavy triplets..Or what..I listened and learned from Sandy Nelson/ Buddy Rich when I started the kit.
But the Metal is tough for me.

Ha, I wish I was good at Jazz. Hopefully I can do okay in Jazz Band smile.gif

But yeah just practice because Metal comes normal to me and I find it pretty easy and Jazz not some much.

Agreed, I used to not like it but once I started Jazz band and got better it's real fun to play. I'm fascinated with this stuff, I've even been reading up on the history of Jazz and stuff

♥ Good stuff

Jazz is fun! I find learning it is pretty hard, but by hitting the ride softly and adding in the side of the snare as a jazz beat can calm you down after a major jam. happy.gif
