I have a question on step #10, lesson #5, and the last four 8th notes in the second measure, and the speed at which I see them played in the video vs the count: 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 in which there read. If the whole two measures are played @ 100bpm, and the bass, and snare are landed on every quarter note for the first measure while the hi hat is landed on every eigth in the first measure, I'm getting confused with the time count:1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and the actual speed at which I see the tom, and floor tom being landed on in the video. Sounds more like: 1 e and a ..

I hope you understand my question.

Nope - they sound like 1/8 notes to me.

I sure your right, but when I get to that part, for some reason, it sounds more like 1 e and a, or it sounds like 1 and 2 and .

The part you have circled on the toms in the last measure is: 3&4&

if they sound like 16th note then you are speeding up in the fill.

Are you standing close to the edge? Look out to the setting sun, the brink of your vision. Eternal youth is a landscape of a lie. The cracks in my skin can prove, as the years will testify. Say your prayers and light a fire, we're gonna start a war. Your slogan's a gun for hire, it's what we waited for. This is why we're on the edge. Ooooooooooh I get it now. rolleyes.gif. Somehow I got it fix in my head, at this level, that every four notes including rests were 1, and 2, and 3, and 4 , and the second set was also 1, and 2, and 3, and 4, in the same measure, but infact, all eight of the notes are 1, and 2, and 3, and 4.

Man... This stuff can drive you crazy. The screwy part is I can play these simple beat by ear no problem, but to read them as I play, i'm getting a little screwed up in the transfer. I understand now thanks guys.

Cool!
I know exactly what you mean. My teacher makes me count everything. When the tempo gets up around 150, try counting mixes of 1/8ths, triplets and 1/16ths. I use more brain power on my counting than on my playing and it is a monster tongue twister. After a few times through my lesson, I can hardly talk. I'm probably drooling too. blink.gif

At the moment that seems impossible to read that fast while playing, or tapping. I'm struggleing at 100bpm to move my eyes and follow along. laugh.gif
