To Jared, I saw your video's on "Hands and Feet Combos" Though you both are proficient in your playing, You are NOT teaching how to count through time. One DOESN'T change your count when counting 8ths/16th or 16th note triplets through a fill or any other time. To keep time properly through a groove or fill that exists within an 8 bar or 16 or 32 bars-or whatever- when playing around the kit one finds the common denominator between meter changes. For example....when playing your hand to feet combos that start at 8ths and goes to triplets the commom anchor point in time is counting 8th's. YOU DO NOT count, 1+2+3+4+123456. That is just stupid-AND is teaching a riduculous habit that is hard to undo. The common denominator is 8th The WHOLE count is 1+2+3+4+1+2+3+4+. The 16th note triplets fall betweem 1 +, etc....This way you are ALWAYS on metronomic time. Not your own time........Try it out/////This is the MOST important lesson is drumming. Knowing where 1 is at all time.........Good luck

This is the MOST important lesson is drumming. Knowing where 1 is at all time.

I definitely agree with you that knowing where the 1 is at is very important, but the end result is all that really matters. If you can keep track of the 1 and stay in perfect time, then who really cares what you think inside your head while playing?
