this is an extraordinary resource - many thanks to you all...after only two and a half weeks online study i was able to confidently play a gig (and we've been rebooked!). I've been steadily working my way through the exercises but I find some of Lionel's beats & fills a bit too fast to catch. Is there any way of slo-moing the videos, or will i have to purchase them to do that?

Well, if you have any sort of video-editing software, or even a decent video playback software installed in your computer, you could try downloading the lessons onto your hard drive, and on the playback options of your video player see if you can play it in slow motion.

Congratulations on the gig and rebook. smile.gif
Have fun with those!

I would like to know if you could give me some kind of trick to play the 2nd sheet music, I have problems in synchronizing the bass drum with the hi-hat on the triplets unsure.gif , when my arms start to move, my leg speeds up and I can't do it well.
Thanks a lot!

Slow it WAAAAY down. Work on just getting the motions down (train your brain/muscles), then start to gradually pick up speed.

Is hand sequence important or just the beat....for ex.on the video he will play right hand high tom left hand high tom right hand high tom left hand Snare... can you do this opposite ending Right hand Snare???

Also if you look at the video on the DVD player you can put it in slow mo to get a good look at it

The sticking is the rudiment so as the fill goes the snare should be hit with the right if the rudiment is started with the right or left if started with the left. Keep in mind that rudiments and any technique is used as a means to an end and that end is to be musical. If playing in a band I would say do what feels natural but when practicing the rudiments to do them as written will give you the best advantage.

How do you drum along to a metronome with this rudiment?

Like do you hit all seven strokes between each click or how does it work?

Hello, liljon.

It would be "one-trip-let-two-trip-let-three". In other words, three triplet strokes on the first click, three triplet strokes on the second click, a single stroke on the third click and pause from there.
